Magic Links

Magic links provide a passwordless way to sign in to the platform. Instead of remembering a password, you receive a secure, one-time link via email that signs you in instantly.

How Magic Links Work

1. Enter your email address
2. We send you a unique sign-in link
3. Click the link in your email
4. You're instantly signed in!

No password to remember, type, or reset.

Signing In with Magic Link

Request a Magic Link

1. Go to the Sign In page
2. Click Sign in with Email Link or select the Magic Link option
3. Enter your email address
4. Click Send Magic Link

Check Your Email

1. Open the email from the platform
2. Click the Sign In button or link
3. You'll be signed in automatically

Tip: The email usually arrives within seconds. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Creating an Account

Magic links work for new users too:

1. Go to the Sign Up page
2. Choose the Magic Link option
3. Enter your email address
4. Click Send Link
5. Click the link in your email
6. Your account is created and you're signed in!

Magic Link Details

Expiration

For security, magic links:

• Expire after 1 hour
• Can only be used once
• Are invalidated if a new link is requested

New Link Request

If your link expires:

1. Return to the sign-in page
2. Request a new magic link
3. The old link will no longer work

Benefits of Magic Links

When to Use Magic Links

Great for:

• Quick sign-ins on trusted devices
• Mobile devices where typing is difficult
• Users who prefer passwordless authentication
• Occasional access when you don't want to remember a password

Consider alternatives when:

• You sign in very frequently (password with "Remember Me" may be faster)
• You don't have immediate access to email
• You're on a shared email account

Security

Why Magic Links Are Secure

• Single-use — Each link works only once
• Time-limited — Links expire after 1 hour
• Unique — Every link is cryptographically unique
• Email-verified — Confirms you control the email address

Best Practices

1. Delete magic link emails — Remove them after signing in
2. Check the sender — Verify emails are from the platform
3. Don't forward — Magic links are personal
4. Secure your email — Your email inbox is your key

Suspicious Emails

If you receive a magic link you didn't request:

• Don't click it
• Someone may have entered your email by mistake
• If it happens repeatedly, contact support

Combining with Other Methods

You can use magic links alongside other sign-in methods:

• Set up a password as a backup
• Link Google or GitHub for quick access
• Use whichever method is most convenient

To add a password to your magic link account:

1. Sign in with a magic link
2. Go to Settings → Security
3. Click Set Password
4. Create a strong password

Troubleshooting

Didn't Receive the Email?

1. Check your spam/junk folder
2. Verify you entered the correct email
3. Wait a few minutes — there may be a delay
4. Request a new link
5. Add our email address to your contacts

Link Not Working?

The link may have:

• Expired — Request a new one
• Already been used — Request a new one
• Been clicked in email preview — Some email clients "click" links for security scanning; request a new link

Signed Into Wrong Account?

If the link signs you into a different account than expected:

• You may have multiple accounts with different emails
• Sign out and request a link to the correct email

Can't Click the Link?

If the button doesn't work:

1. Copy the link URL manually
2. Paste it into your browser's address bar
3. Press Enter

The link is usually at the bottom of the email as a fallback.
